This addition to the 164th Infantry Association Records consists of a metallic bracelet. The bracelet was made from the metal of a downed Japanese Zero. The metal was carried out of the Pacific Theater by Raymond Conlon, a member of the 164th Infantry. Conlon placed the metal in his shoe for safe keeping. Upon his return to North Dakota, Ray's father formed the medal into the shape of a bracelet and inscribed the words "Ray to Gladys" upon it. The bracelet is also emblazoned with the phrase "10-13-42," the day the Guadalcanal campaign began.
The bracelet was given by Raymond Conlon to his bride, Gladys, on their wedding day, June 6, 1944. The couple was wed in Moorhead.
