SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Thomas McGrath consists largely of correspondence (1949-1989) from Thomas McGrath to Jack Beeching, a close friend of McGrath's, and a novelist, historian, and fellow poet. These letters were arranged in a rough chronological order by Jack Beeching because Thomas McGrath did not begin dating his letters until late in life. Several letters from Thomas McGrath's ex-wife, Alice, are included. Numerous poems by Thomas McGrath also may be found. Consult the folder listing for a complete account of this poetry. Additional correspondence between Jack Beeching and Thomas McGrath may be found by consulting the folder listing for boxes one through three in this collection. This addition also includes a manuscript entitled, "Thomas McGrath - A Memoir," which was written by Jack Beeching in 1992.
