HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Dacotah Custom Shirt Shop was opened circa 1919 in Grand Forks, North Dakota by Edwin M. Rosenquist. In August 1920, Rosenquist transferred the mortgage to E.J. Lander & Co., who were to act as the trustee of a creditors fund established to aid Rosenquist. However, Rosenquist still found it difficult to meet expenses and went bankrupt in August 1923. The creditors agreed to appoint Nettie Stinson as shop manager, but business did not improve. Stinson left in October 1929, and Isabel Bjelde and Louise Stavig assumed her duties. In November, 1931, Stavig quit and Belle Kolstad became Bjelde's new partner. Kolstad left in April 1933, and Mrs. Dorbyshire [first name unknown] joined Bjelde as co-manager. Financial problems continued to plague the Dacotah Custom Shirt Shop and it went out of business in December 1934.
