ACQUISITION: The Plant and Share Garden Club Records were deposited by Bernice Laager, Grand Forks, North Dakota on January 2, 2007 (Acc.#2007-2876).

HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Plant and Share Garden Club was founded in East Grand Forks, Minnesota in 1959. During their monthly meetings, the members would discuss different types of plants, ways to care for them and shows or events. The club was part of the Eleventh District of the State Horticultural Society and the Minnesota State Horticultural Society. Club members attended an annual show held in various places throughout the district in August or September, where gardeners from all over the district would bring arrangements of different flowers and plants to be judged. The club’s last meeting was held in 1991.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Plant and Share Garden Club Records date from 1959 to 1992 and consist of material related to the Plant and Share Garden Club, the Eleventh District of the State Horticultural Society, and the Minnesota State Horticultural Society. The Constitution, secretarial records, show files, and publications about the Plant and Share Garden Club are included as well as information about the Eleventh District of the State Horticultural Society such as the Constitution, correspondence with the Plant and Share Garden Club, and show programs. The third section of this collection contains correspondence, tips about meetings and programs, and publications from the Minnesota State Horticultural Society.
