ACQUISITION: This addition to the Elwyn F. Chandler Papers was deposited into the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by John Bye, North Dakota State University Institute for Regional Studies, Fargo, North Dakota, in December 2004 (Acc.#2005-2727).

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Elwyn F. Chandler Papers consists of two documents. The first document dates from January 22, 1940, and is an Associated Press obituary for Chandler, which was to be used following his death. Chandler did not die until August 13, 1946.

The second document is an April 21, 1945, press release regarding the presentation of the first Elwyn F. Chandler Award by the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers. The first recipient was Chandler himself, who was recognized for “outstanding engineering structure, design, or research, or contribution to the advancement of the engineering profession.”
