INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Round Table Records was deposited by Beverly Bale on October 7, 1996 and by Harriet Thorson on January 16, 1993 (Acc. # 97-2176).

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations under the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Round Table Records includes meeting minutes spanning the years 1969- 1992, Round Table Annual Highlights for the years 1939-l996 and membership, officer end committee rosters for the years 1929-1996. The Annual Highlights describe events in members' personal lives as well as club activities, such as meetings and elections. Meeting minutes further detail club activities by documenting discussions, which focus largely on historical and literary topics, and by providing information on the clubs' finances, elections and membership changes

A scrapbook contains materials spanning the years 1931-1979. These materials include group photos of members, yearly programs, newspaper clippings, two essays and a 1976 Christmas card from Margaret Starcher, Round Table member and wife of former University of North Dakota President George Starcher. Programs contain meeting schedules, membership rosters, and sometimes list the topics of discussion at meetings. Newspaper clippings document club elections and annual meetings with the North Dakota Dames, a sister literary club not restricted to wives of faculty. Some clippings also document personal events, such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries. The two essays were written on the occasion of the club' s 20th and 50th anniversaries and describe highlights of its history.
