INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Delta Zeta, Upsilon Chapter Records was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection. The acquisition records are unavailable.

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Delta Zeta, Upsilon Chapter Records date from 1916 to 1984. The addition consists of historical documents for both Alpha Sigma Epsilon (which later became Upsilon Chapter), and Upsilon Chapter history. The historical material dates from 1917-1924.

There are meeting minutes from 1916-1969 including the by-laws and constitution and weekly meeting minutes. Also included is correspondence from 1917-1980 and a response paper to Delta Zeta from Mrs. Agnes Alger which is undated.

Financial documents include the house and mortgage information from 1920-1934, the architect’s plan from May 27, 1927, and a 1930-1934 financial ledger book. Also included is chapter scholarship information from 1973.

Reports include monthly reports from 1968-1972, and statistical reports from 1972-1977. Also included is a national philanthropy report from 1981 and 1982 and a chapter philanthropy report from 1979, and lastly, three chapter annual reports from 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Seminar Documents include Province Days in Moorhead, Minnesota from 1974, and the Diamond Jubilee weekend held in St. Cloud, Minnesota in April 1977. Newspaper clippings and a press book are included from the 50th anniversary of the inclusion of Alpha Sigma Epsilon into Delta Zeta. Songs, services, and the Delta Zeta Upsilon “Seventies Reunion” scrapbook are included in the miscellaneous folders.

The majority of this addition regards membership. There is a chapter directory from 1942 to 1943, the chapter officers from 1972-1974, and a list from February 2, 1984 of all the members of the Delta Zeta, Upsilon Chapter from the Alumni Association. There is also documentation of undergraduates that depledged, died or were expelled, and the notification of final judiciary action from the National Judiciary Chairman about individuals in the sorority.

Also, in this addition are 16 folders of alumna membership records, as well as three folders of membership status cards. They both contained information about the alumna, but the alumna membership records were used until the 60s, and the latter ones used beginning in the 70s. There are two small boxes of permits for initiation that were the cards the pledges filled out to state that they wanted to join Delta Zeta, Upsilon Chapter. Both the alumna membership records and the permits for initiation are various dates and in the original order that they were received.
