The Wiggles! to hold online auditions for parents to become the fifth wiggle as part of their “Big Birthday” tour coming to REA Aug. 3

The Fab Four from down under are back with this year’s most anticipated family event. It’s time for The Wiggles Big Birthday party. Come along and "Play your Ukelele," "Rock a Bye Your Bear," and do the "Hot Potato." Parents are now being offered the exclusive opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Al Roker and Kylie Minogue by becoming The Fifth Wiggle. One lucky winner will be chosen to perform The Wiggles’ hit song "Fruit Salad" live on stage in Grand Forks! Auditions are being held now online at

Parents are invited to film a home video of themselves (not their children) performing their best rendition of “Fruit Salad.” The performance footage will be submitted to The Wiggles’ official YouTube site, where after going through an approval process, will be posted. Friends and family will be able to vote for their favorite. One lucky winner will be chosen for Grand Forks. The victor will ultimately be selected by The Wiggles, with 50 percent of the consideration resulting from online votes. For complete contest details, visit

The Wiggling commences at Ralph Engelstad Arena at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Tickets for Grand Forks are on sale now and are available through all Ticketmaster locations ( or by calling 800-745-3000 and the venue box office. Prices range from $17.50 - $77.50 (additional facility fees, service charges and $.50 donation to Reach Out and Read may apply). $77.50 tickets in the Wiggles VIP section are limited, and will include the best seats in the house, an exclusive gift, an activity sheet and a chance to dance along with The Wiggles themselves!

Come and wiggle in the aisles for the Big Birthday Tour. The Wiggles are excited to bring their highly interactive, fun and educational message to Grand Forks. Audience participation features include:

  • Start the fun at home by creating a giant wiggly birthday card or sign.
  • Having fun with your favorite wiggly pal as they sing and dance through the audience.
  • Dress up as your favorite character.
  • Yelling “Wake up, Jeff!” whenever the loveable Purple Wiggle falls asleep onstage.

The Wiggles are proud to announce that the U.S. school readiness initiative Reach Out and Read will be the official charity partner of their 2011 American tour. Reach Out and Read prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to “prescribe” books and encourage families to read together. Together, Reach Out and Read and The Wiggles will work to raise awareness about the importance of parental involvement and reading aloud to young children. This year, Reach Out and Read will serve 4 million children and families nationwide through 4,600 hospitals, clinics, and medical practices. In North Dakota, 6 hospitals and clinics participate in Reach Out and Read, serving 5,700 children annually.

Parents who participate in the research-proven program read to their children more often, and their children enter kindergarten with larger vocabularies and a six-month developmental edge. A portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will be used to support Reach Out and Read Programs across the United States.
