Grand Forks Master Chorale auditions set for Aug. 29

The Grand Forks Master Chorale will be holding auditions for all voice parts on Aug. 29 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. for the 2011-2012 season. The new rehearsal time is from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Mondays.

The GFMC is a highly skilled chamber choir dedicated to performing choral music of the highest quality. Our members, selected by audition, come from strong musical backgrounds and are committed to the art of choral singing. Singers need to have excellent music reading ability, a well-trained choral and solo voice, and be willing to commit to attending all rehearsals and performances. The GFMC rehearses Monday nights from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

How to Audition: To schedule an audition, call 777-3376 or email Please leave your name, phone number, email address, voice part, and preferred audition time. Someone will respond to confirm. Audition times are first come, first served.

Audition Date: Aug. 29, 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Please prepare one solo piece from the classical tradition with accompaniment. An accompanist will be provided. You will also be asked to sight read and sing a few vocalises. Please arrive 10 minutes early in order to fill out an audition information form.

This season the Grand Forks Master Chorale will perform Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem in a special arrangement for four-hand piano, done by the composer himself, Handel's Messiah with choirs from around the region, as well as the music of Francis Poulenc, Domenico Scarlatti, Knut Nystedt, and Karol Szymanowski.

UND Students are eligible to audition for the Grand Forks Master Chorale. If accepted, student have the option of taking the course for credit by registering for Chamber Choir (MUSC 261) or not for credit as the other community members do.
