United Way campaign is under way
The United Way campaign is under way on campus. All employees should have received a pledge card and brochure from your departmental coordinator. The United Way is the easiest and most powerful way to invest in your community. It advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all, while focusing on the building blocks for a good life -- education, income and health.
For many families in our community, the basic ingredients for a good life are becoming increasingly beyond reach. In 2010, United Way funds provided to agencies helped:
- Community Violence Intervention Center shelter and support 103 women and children
- Northlands Rescue Mission provide 39,627 nights of lodging and 97,717 meals
- St. Joseph’s Social Care and Thrift Store (formerly St. Vincent) distribute 257,829 pounds of food to 2,183 households
- Grand Forks Senior Center deliver 19,195 meals for the Meals on Wheels program
Local service providers have seen an increase in demand for direct services, and United Way has seen an increase in funding requests. Now, more than ever, our community needs to come together to Live United and create long lasting changes to prevent problems from happening. Donations can be made through payroll deduction by filling out a pledge card.
With your help, we can do more. Please donate to United Way. Contact United Way at 701-775-8661 or www.unitedwaygfegf.org.
