Free webinar on rural economic vitality offered to first 10 to respond to invitation

We have room at the table for the first 10 to respond to this invitation to a free webinar hosted by and at the Center for Community Engagement (317 Cambridge St.) from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. The topic is “Supporting Rural Economic Vitality through Campus-Community Partnerships,” and features the Center for Small Towns at the University of Minnesota Morris.

The webinar should be useful in our work with regional rural communities through the Center’s Community Connect program, as well as through your own research and teaching projects. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Audrey at 777-0675.

This webinar illuminates the critical roles campus-community partnerships play in the economic vitality of rural areas. Specifically, Yellow Wood Associates, current manager of the Wealth Creation in Rural Communities initiative, have worked with ways in which higher education students have partnered with their communities to boost resources. The Center for Small Towns has worked to provide research to rural towns unable to provide these resources for themselves. They encourage students to partner with communities and study the challenges facing these communities.
