Wind Ensemble to present spring concert April 26

The UND Wind Ensemble, under the direction of James Popejoy, will present a spring concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the Chester Fritz Auditorium.  Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $12 per family, and available at the door. Military personnel are admitted free with ID.

The Wind Ensemble will perform "A Festival Prelude" by Alfred Reed, "Firefly" by Ryan George, Roger Cichy’s "Bugs," and Frank Ticheli’s exciting "Angels in the Architecture." The ensemble will also premiere a new work by British composer Martin Ellerby titled "Soliloquy for Solferino." UND was part of the international consortium of 30 ensembles that commissioned this work, which was written to commemorate the founding of the Red Cross.

The Wind Ensemble recently learned they were selected to present a featured performance at the 2012 Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, Wash., this coming November.
