Dates for Higher Learning Commission visit to UND announced
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association, UND’s institutional accreditor, has scheduled dates for our upcoming team visit for reaccreditation. HLC team members will be in Grand Forks from Oct. 28 through Oct. 30 of 2013.
Prior to that visit, team members will review an extensive self-study prepared by faculty, staff, administrators, and students at UND. They will also review publicly available documents accessed through the university’s web site. During the visit, meetings will be scheduled with designated groups of campus constituencies and stakeholders. Team members will also hold “open meetings,” designed to provide an opportunity for anyone with information to contribute or concerns to express, to offer commentary. The information collection and review process will focus on the HLC’s five criteria for reaccreditation:
II. Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct
III. Teaching & Learning: Quality, Resources, and Support
IV. Teaching & Learning: Evaluation and Improvement
V. Resources, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness.
After the visit concludes, UND will receive a report describing the team’s findings. The university will also be assigned to a future accreditation process within the HLC’s new Pathways system of reaccreditation, which offers three different tracks for on-going institutional accreditation efforts and takes effect for UND at the conclusion of the October 2013 visit.
More information about the HLC, the self-study, and the planned visit will become available during the 2012-13 academic year. In the meantime, please bookmark UND’s informational site regarding the self-study work at und.edu/provost/higher-learning-commission. As documents become available, they will be posted to that site.
