Friday seminar, “Let the Stiff Drive,” focuses on transportation safety and traumatic injury
This week's Foundations of Biomedical Science Seminar speaker is David Porta, professor of Biology at Bellarmine University, Louisville. Dr. Porta's presentation is titled: "Let the Stiff Drive — research you probably haven't thought about," and takes place on Friday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. in Room 5510 in the School of Medicine & Health Sciences Building.
In an interesting and provocative talk, Dr. Porta will describe his research into transportation safety, which combines his interests and expertise in cadaveric dissection with state of the art biomechanics and traumatic injury research. He is a Councilor of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, and holds joint and collaborative appointments at the University of Louisville School of Medicine (in anatomy, where he teaches medical gross anatomy) and with the Center for Injury Biomechanics, a collaborative research venture of Virginia Tech and Wake Forest Universities.
