Riders sought to Cycle for a Cause
Spin bike riders are sought for Cycle for a Cause, a group exercise class launched in the spring of 2012. Participants consist of UND students, faculty, and staff. Every mile cycled in the class is logged and matched by community sponsors such as Scheels, Hugo’s, and the Ski and Bike Shop. Sponsors donate 10 cents per mile per participant. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to a local cause.
The Cycle for a Cause Cyclathon is an indoor race on stationary spin bikes that will conclude the semester-long fundraiser/group exercise class. Each Cyclathon team consists of seven cyclists who ride for 20 minutes each, with a five-minute break between each rider to record mileage and change cyclists. All proceeds will be donated to Altru’s Heart and Vascular Center for research.
Each team must consist of seven riders and with a team captain. Each team member is required to raise a minimum of $20 in pledges to support the race mission (checks can be made out to Altru’s Heart and Vascular Center). All of the pledges must be returned to the Wellness Center welcome desk by 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7.
All skill levels are welcome. Non-Wellness Center members can participate but must be sponsored by a Wellness Center member. The team registration form can be picked up at the Wellness Center welcome desk; registration closes Tuesday, Dec. 1.
