Campus Road bridge replacement forum is Nov. 19
UND, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and North Dakota Department of Transportation, is proposing to replace the bridge on Campus Road. To ensure all social, economic and environmental effects are considered in the development of this project, UND is soliciting campus views and comments on the proposed project during an open campus forum at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the Memorial Union Lecture Bowl.
In March, the 42-year-old bridge spanning the English Coulee on Campus Road was closed to pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic. This action was taken after engineers inspected the bridge and determined it suffered an irreparable structural failure. The proposed bridge replacement project consists of removing the existing bridge, constructing a new bridge, relocating utilities and replacing existing road and sidewalk. It is anticipated that the new bridge may be located slightly south of the existing bridge.
The project is expected to be constructed during the 2013 construction season.
Information gathered during this forum will be used to determine how compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act is carried out and documented.
