Call for papers: Innovations in rural regions

Call for Papers: Technology and Innovation- Proceedings of the National Academy of Inventors


We are currently soliciting manuscripts for a special issue of Technology and Innovation on "Innovations in Rural Regions."

Technology and Innovation presents information encompassing the entire field of applied sciences with a focus on technology and academic innovation, and welcomes manuscripts that meet the general criteria of significance and scientific excellence. We publish original articles, critical reviews, surveys, opinions, commentaries, essays, and patent and book reviews of interest to our readers.

For this special issue, we are interested articles and reviews addressing various advancements and improvements of technology associated with rural areas. Relevant topics include (but are not limited to):

1) Inventions/products originated from the needs to address region-specific issues and challenges

· Agriculture: advanced materials & equipment

· Healthcare: accessibility, quality & cost

· Environmental safety: contaminant detection & treatment

· Transportation

· Telecommunications

2) New applications or region-specific resources or technologies to maximize the use of rural resources

· Alternative fuels

· Water purification/decontamination systems

· Use of wind and unique landscapes

All manuscript should clearly address the issues and challenges of a specific rural region.

We hope to bring together articles from a wide range of disciplines that describe the use of these technologies for different purposes.


Abstracts: March 1, 2013 (The abstract submission should contain: title, author affiliation, abstract of no more than 250 words, key words, and contact information). Abstracts should be sent to Dr. Kumi Nagamoto-Combs ( with Ginger Johnson cc’d (

Acceptance of Abstracts: April 5, 2013 (The editor will review all of the abstracts and will contact the selected authors with information on the submission of full manuscripts).

Articles for the journal are generally written for a multidisciplinary audience. All submissions should meet Technology and Innovation author instructions and the journal’s Aims and Scope available at
