Muddy Waters Clay Center will host open house Dec. 1, 2

The fifth annual Muddy Waters Clay Center holiday open house is scheduled Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. This year's holiday show will be bigger than the previous four as the Muddy Waters Clay Center has improved its gallery.

The open house is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and will continue Dec. 2, running from noon to 4 p.m. The Muddy Waters Clay Center is located at 2014 13th Ave. North in Grand Forks.

Original hand-crafted pottery from Muddy Waters Clay Centers members will be available for sale during the open house.

There will be pottery demonstrations along with holiday treats. Also, Muddy Waters artists will be on hand for the two-day open house.

It's been an active year at the Muddy Waters Clay Center, which continues to foster the development of the ceramic arts in Grand Forks.

Thanks to a grant from retired UND professor of art Jackie McElroy Edwards, new shelving has been installed in the gallery which allows each artist at Muddy Waters to individually display their works. Also, thanks to a memorial from the family of Warren Jensen, the president of Muddy Waters, new track lighting has been installed.

The improvements provide a more professional look at Muddy Waters gallery as the artists now have individual spaces to showcase their work.

In addition, a raffle will be held. Raffle winners will receive pottery from local artists Don Miller, Al Boucher and Vicki Morrisette. Raffle tickets will be sold by the 29 studio members who produce pottery at the center, now headed for its fifth year of operation. Also, there will be a sign-up offered for those interested in taking a winter pottery class.

Muddy Waters Clay Center's gallery is open to the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional holiday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 9 and 16. 2014 13th Ave N Grand Forks, ND 58203
