This is a new policy that supplements and aligns with State Board of Higher Education policies.

Policy Statement: Leave without pay may be authorized for benefited staff employees (excludes faculty), who have maintained a satisfactory service record, for purposes of mutual benefit to the institution and to the employee.

Reason for Policy: This policy is established in accordance with North Dakota State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) policy 701.1, which requires an institution to adopt procedures for implementing the policy specifically governing leave without pay.
