Professional development session, “UND Cares,” is April 16
The Student Affairs Staff Development Committee is presenting a professional development session, "UND Cares," to all interested members of the UND community, on Tuesday, April 16, in the Memorial Union Lecture Bowl. The same session will be presented twice, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Attendees can choose the session which best fits their schedule.
We know that while college is a wonderful time for most students, some students may struggle. You may experience students in distress on campus, in your classroom, in your workplace, and within residence halls. Distressed students may initially seek assistance from faculty, staff members, their parents, and other students. In addition to the support we can provide to each other, there are also professional support services available to students on campus through the Dean of Students, University Counseling Center and University Police. Staff members from these areas are available to consult with you about providing a student with the help that he or she may need. Join us as we discuss how to identify signs of distress in students as well as how to refer them for the appropriate help and support their academic success.
