Comments sought on University Website policy
A campus-wide comment period will be held April 2–15 for the University Website policy.
This is a new policy and will replace the web policy approved in 2001 that is no longer valid and outdated. Moreover, the need for a new policy document has become urgent. By June 30, 2013, the University will decommission a Web server that now hosts UND and non-UND websites. This policy document will help the University determine what – if any – non-UND websites might appropriately be moved to another UND server. This policy document will also help ensure that UND sites now on the server are adapted to comply with the new UND Identity Guidelines before they are moved to a new server UND website.
Policy Statement: The University of North Dakota (UND) is responsible for its Web content, therefore websites must adhere to University identity guidelines. Websites must be constructed using the approved content management system (CMS) unless given an exemption by the Vice President for University & Public Affairs. Entities not adhering to these requirements will not be hosted on University servers.
Reason for Policy: UND resources, including its website, must be used in accordance with state laws and North Dakota University System (NDUS) procedures; and must be sustained in a manner that maintains identity guidelines and quality control, manages risk, optimizes usability, and provides consistency. This policy further defines the terms and conditions for all websites hosted on UND servers.
