SIL colloquium series begins June 6 with John Clifton
Summer Institute of Languages International invites the community to attend a lecture by John Clifton, director of Graduate Studies for Linguistics at UND, at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Gamble Hall, room 5. Clifton will speak on the unusual occurrence of a Myanmar (formerly Burma) language, Mro Khimi, as having more typical African tonal characteristics rather than the expected Asian tonal system. The talk is titled “African Tone in a Language from Myanmar: The Case of Mro Khimi.”
