Track standout a repeat selection to CoSIDA Academic All-Distric Team

Track and field standout Kirsten Haas has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Track / Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

It is the second straight year in which Haas, a native of Belgrade, Mont., has earned academic all-district honors.

Haas is majoring in international studies and owns a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She was named to both the 2013-13 Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic Team and the UND Athletics Director’s Fall 2012 Honor Roll, and was a finalist for UND’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Haas was also the recipient of UND’s Howard & Ann and Brian & Terrie Dahl Impact Scholarship.

On the track, Haas placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2013 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship. She ran a personal-record time of 1 minute, 1.41 seconds, in the same event at the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, and helped UND win the 4x400 relay at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawk Invitational.

Haas and the other academic all-district honorees now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June. UND’s previous women’s track and field / cross country all-Americans include Lindsay Anderson (2012), Kristi Dahlheimer (2011), three-time honoree Steph Bruening (1994, 1993, 1992) and two-time selection Kari McIntire (1984, 1985).
