The Glycemic Effects of Honey Study
We invite you to join a study that compares the effect of honey, high fructose corn, and sugar on blood sugar.
• An 11-15 week study
• Men and women between 20-80 years of age.
• Normal to obese body weight (BMI 18-39.9)
• Normal and Impaired Glucose Tolerance Participants
• Fingerstick fasting glucose less than 125 milligram per deciliter
• Willingness to comply with the demands of the experimental protocol
• Sedentary Lifestyle
• Do not have diabetes mellitus or uncontrolled medical problem (including blood pressures of >160/110)
• Do not take medications that affect glucose metabolism
• Do not have or have had an eating disorder
• Are not pregnant or breast feeding

Lifestyle Weight Control and Potato Consumption Study
We invite you to join a study to evaluate the role of potato consumption in a lifestyle weight control program.
• An eight week study
• Men and women between 20-65 years of age
• Overweight or obese (BMI 25-39.0)
• Nonsmoker
• Free of major medical conditions and eating disorders
• May not be pregnant or lactating
• Willingness to comply with the demands of the experimental protocol

These elements are required of you in the study
• Complete a three day dietary records
• Attend eight weekly dietitian led group weight-loss classes
• Consume one potato or alternate starch dish daily prepared by the Human Nutrition Research Center kitchen
• Follow prescribed energy restriction and physical activity regimen

Biological Assessment of Satiety
We invite you to join a study to develop a method to assess the satiety of certain food items correlated with questionnaire responses and gut hormone levels.
• Men and women between 25-45 years of age
• Normal body weight to overweight (18-29.9 kg/m2)
• Medical History demonstrating good health
• Willingness to comply with the demands of the experimental protocol
• Do not have an uncontrolled medical problem (including blood pressure of >160/110)
• May not be pregnant or lactating
• May not exhibit an eating disorder

What is required of me for this Study?
• Complete a three day dietary record prior to admission
• Not exercise for 48 hours prior to testing
• 3 overnight stays at the center with a five hour testing period
• Consume given food items at requested times

Blood Cell Responses to Exercise
We invite you to join a study to determine how platelets (blood cells that form clots) respond when a person performs an initial period of moderate exercise.
• Men and women between 30-60 years of age
• Overweight or obese (BMI 25-39.9)
• Nonsmoker
• Free of major medical conditions
• Not taking medications affecting lipid metabolism (simvastin, etc.)
• No current use of n-3 supplements (fish or flax oil)
• May not be pregnant or lactating
• Willingness to comply with the demands of the experimental protocol

What is required of me for this Study?
• Five visits to the Center
• Two 24 hour urine collections
• Consume standard meal prior to testing
• 25 minute increments of exercise on a cycle ergometer
