Farned named UND’s first Ombuds
President Robert O. Kelley has appointed Dusty Bates Farned as UND’s first Ombuds. Previously a mediator in Dallas, Texas, Farned assumed duties at UND on July 1.
“We are delighted to have Dusty join us as UND’s first Ombuds, a position that will be a neutral resource for members of the entire University community. Dusty will be available to assist members of the UND community by listening to concerns and then proposing various options for positive resolution, providing information, and making referrals,” said President Kelley.
Kelley thanked members of the Ombuds Search Committee, who have agreed to remain in place during the first year in an advisory capacity.
“I am very humbled and excited,” said Farned. “By going forward with this program, UND has made an affirmative statement about its commitment to a positive learning and working environment.”
You can reach Farned at 777.6239 or d.b.farned@UND.edu.
