Student Financial Aid lists walk-in hours, refund date and new Direct Loan interest rates
The Student Financial Aid Office is offering walk-in hours for students and families through Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students are asked to make an appointment after Sept. 13.
Financial aid eligibility will be based on students’ course schedules as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 (last day to add/drop published by the Registrar’s Office). Students who add classes after that date may not be eligible for financial aid. Financial aid refunds will start being processed on Monday, Sept. 9.
Congress and President Obama signed the Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013. The new fixed Federal Direct Loan Program interest rates for 2013-14 are:
• 3.86 percent for Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans for undergraduate students;
• 5.41 percent for Direct Unsubsidized Loans for graduate/professional students; and
• 6.41 percent for parent and graduate PLUS Loans.
