Submit UAS research proposals to the UAS Research Compliance Committee
The first meeting of the UAS Research Compliance Committee (UASRCC) for the 2013-2014 academic year is set to take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Memorial Union Badlands Room. Future meeting dates will be determined as proposals are received, and investigators should expect a timely review of research from the date of submission.
The UASRCC is tasked with reviewing and approving research using unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) conducted by any members of the University, including faculty, staff, and students.
UND requires that research projects involving UAS be approved by the UASRCC prior to the initiation of any research activities. Of particular concern to the UASRCC is any project that will be flying in the vicinity of populated areas and/or intends to record images, video, or audio of members of the general public as part of the proposed research. The committee will consider the ethical consequences of the proposed research and apply community standards in determining whether a research project may be approved as submitted or may require modifications before approval will be granted.
If you are unsure whether your research requires review by the UASRCC, contact the office of Research Development and Compliance at 777.4278 for assistance. You may also find information on the UASRCC website: UND.edu/research/resources/uas-research-compliance-committee.cfm.
