Dawn Botsford will receive Spirit Award Sept. 13
The Alumni Association & Foundation is honored to recognize Dawn Botsford, special events coordinator in the Office of Ceremonies and Special Events, with its prestigious Spirit Award.
“Dawn has been a fixture at UND for more than three decades,” said Tim O’Keefe, Executive Vice President & CEO of the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. “You see her exceptional commitment to the University, its students and staff in every event she helps plan. She epitomizes UND Spirit, and is truly deserving of this recognition.”
The Spirit Award is presented to UND friends and alumni with uncommon dedication to the success of the University and its students. Recipients of this award have shown their outstanding support for various aspects of the University through work with specific colleges or departments, as well as their commitment to UND as a whole.
As special events coordinator with the office of Ceremonies and Special events, Botsford, ’76, ’86, helps plan everything from commencement ceremonies to the annual Bus Tour for New Faculty and Administrators.
“I’m very honored to receive the Spirit Award,” Botsford said. “I think that ‘spirit’ means you have passion for something, and being in this job for 34 years means, of course, that I have passion for my job and learning new things. All my family and friends and people I work with give me spirit. I feel like it’s partly their award as well.”
Established in 1985, the Spirit Award has consistently recognized individuals whose vision, tenacity, and service helped make UND the institution it is today. Past recipients include former U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, ’65; former chancellor of the North Dakota Higher Education System Larry Isaak, ’73, ’96; and former Grand Forks mayor, grocery store chair owner and UND supporter Hugo Magnuson.
A reception honoring Botsford will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at the Gorecki Alumni Center. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
