Meet, Eat, and Learn focuses on domestic violence Oct. 2
Please join the Women's Center as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month Wednesday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. at the International Centre.
Michelle Rivard Parks, Assistant Director of Tribal Judicial Institute and affiliated faculty of the UND School of Law, will talk about the "Complexities of Responding to Violence Against Native American Women."
This presentation will introduce participants to the complexities that exist when responding to domestic violence crimes perpetrated against Native Women. More particularly, participants shall learn about and have an opportunity to discuss the following issues and topics pertaining to domestic violence: available justice responses, comparative data pertinent to incidents of such violence, and Violence Against Women (VAWA) tribal provisions.
