REA announcements, new policies listed

As the University of North Dakota’s hockey teams begin another season, Ralph Engelstad Arena has announced some of the many new features and policies for the upcoming season.

Electronic 50/50-  This year the 50/50 raffle will move to an exciting new electronic format.  Through the use of wireless technology, every transaction is electronically tallied and updated to scoreboards, fascia video ribbon, or the big screen at guest services. This will create excitement as fans watch the pool grow throughout the game.  The 50/50 raffle is not capped and the results will grow as large as participation increases. The raffle is presented by Midcontinent Communications and Coca-Cola, with proceeds benefiting UND athletics.

New Player Flags- Flags on the upper and lower concourse have been replaced with new player banners that showcase the top 100 players in UND hockey history.  The players that are represented were chosen by the UND athletic department and UND men’s hockey coaches.

Shuttle Service- The UND shuttle service from the parking ramp to Ralph Engelstad Arena has been discontinued for the 2013-2014 season. In place of the UND shuttle service, UND will provide additional paid parking options in the following new locations for the 2013-2014 season: UND Nursing School lot and the UND Medical School lot.

Parking- In addition to the new paid parking options, UND will continue to provide paid parking options in all of the same parking locations as last season, including the UND parking ramp and behind Archives Coffee Shop on Harvard Street. For a full listing of off-site parking options, including game-day shuttles from local businesses to the arena, visit

Kidzone- The Kidzone will continue to operate outside of section 111 during UND men’s hockey games this year.  Kids are encouraged to stop by to check out the new UND hockey photo booth, spin the prize wheel for candy and event tickets, play in the bounce houses, or get their face painted.

New Concessions Options- The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center has added a new concession stand located on club level. The Center Court Cantina features new items including chips and queso, daiquiris, and craft beers. The Legends martini bar has also been added to the Ralph Engelstad Arena suite level for UND men’s hockey games.

Betty Storage Facility-  A new 3100 sq. ft. storage facility was added to the Southwest corner of the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center this summer.  The new facility will provide additional storage for UND athletic teams housed in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, while providing convenience for building conversions for other events held at the facility.

Smoking Policy- Guests will no longer be allowed to exit and re-enter for the purpose of smoking during Ralph Engelstad Arena events. The policy applies to electronic cigarettes, smokeless cigarettes, and/or vapor cigarettes, as well as traditional cigarettes. Ralph Engelstad Arena is committed to the health and safety of our guests and employees and no longer desires to have cigarette smoke as part of the game day experience.

The Warm Up Lounge- Ralph Engelstad Arena is offering a new option to entertain friends, clients, or co-workers in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.  Located on ice level, The Warm Up Lounge is available to rent for a select number of men’s home hockey games.  Package includes 20 upper bowl tickets, five onsite parking passes, appetizer menu for 20, and a private bartender with cash bar.

Portable Sioux Shop Kiosk on Upper Concourse- A satellite Sioux Shop location will be located on the north side of the upper concourse. The new kiosk will provide a convenient upper concourse option for guests looking for UND apparel.
