No debating: Forensics team is back

The UND forensics team held its first practice in Fargo recently in conjunction with teams from North Dakota State and Mayville State.

These universities are on their way to bringing intercollegiate forensics back to North Dakota.

The forensics team is the intercollegiate speech and debate team which was disbanded in 1995, but before that was highly successful.  The forensics team competes around the region as a student organization.  Team members get the opportunity to travel off campus, build confidence as well as resume’s, learn public speaking and acting skills, and above all, become better communicators.

The team currently doesn't fall under any certain department, but receives a lot of support from the UND Communication Program.

UND, NDSU and Mayville State are the only teams in North Dakota at the moment, but historically there were six teams.

The forensics team stems from the original literary societies at UND that have been a part of the academic environment since its inception.  Participants hone speaking skills and establish a network across the country.

Any full time undergraduate can participate.
