UND Band and Choir concert set for Oct. 20

The University of North Dakota Allegro Women’s Choir, University Band, and Varsity Bards will present a concert on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 3 p.m. at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Tickets, available at the door, are $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $12 per family.

The Allegro Women’s Choir, under the direction of Melanie Popejoy, will open the concert performing Gweyneth Walker’s "Crossing the Bar," "Yo Le Canto Todo el Dia" by David Brunner, and Stephen Hatfield’s "Dubula," based on a traditional African folk song, among other selections. The University Band, conducted by James Popejoy, will present performances of Frank Ticheli’s "Cajun Folk Songs," "Undertow" by John Mackey, and "On A Southern Hymnsong" by David Holsinger, conducted by graduate student Brady Olson. The Varsity Bards, led by  Joshua Bronfman, will include "Come Sing to Me of Heaven," arranged by Aaron McDermid, Michael Engelhardt’s setting of "Gaudette!" and "The Omnipotence of Franz Schubert" in their portion of the concert. The ensembles will combine forces to close this concert event with a performance of the patriotic "From Sea to Shining Sea."
